Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics and utilities intern brief Tequesta council

At its June 11 meeting the council received the annual ethics overview from the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics and a utilities internship presentation on well maintenance and water quality monitoring by Victoria Gonzalez.
The Village Council heard two informational presentations early in the meeting.
Gina Levesque, intake and compliance manager for the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics, reminded officials that ethics issues often stem from uncertainty rather than bad intent and encouraged early outreach to the commission for advisory opinions. “If something causes you to pause even briefly, that’s the time to reach out,” Levesque said, noting advisory opinions can provide protection when relied on in good faith.
Victoria Gonzalez, introduced by Utilities Director Allison Berg as an engineering intern, summarized her internship work since May 2025 on water resources and well performance for the village. Gonzalez explained Tequesta’s two primary groundwater sources (surficial aquifer and the deeper Upper Bridal aquifer used for RO), described routine maintenance and shock chlorination procedures, and presented data analysis on specific capacity trends and a recent Well 26 rehabilitation completed in March–April 2026. Council members thanked Gonzalez, congratulated her on recent graduation and praised the hands‑on experience she provided for the utilities team.
Both presentations were informational; no council action was required.
