During the June 25 meeting the Elkton Historic District Commission reviewed several short items under Old/New Business and then adjourned.
Commissioner Christine A. Brimm Hurschman said she is on the Historic Elk Landing board and organized an open-house tour; she noted the Stone House had been left unlocked and that children entered the building. Director of Planning Jeanne D. Minner said a structural engineer would inspect a failing Swedish corner fireplace in the Stone House. Minner also reported there were two bidders for repair work to the servants’ quarters at the Hollingsworth House. She added that she was applying for a MARC Rail Station grant for property currently owned by the hospital.
After these updates, Commissioner Mickey Thompson moved to adjourn; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Hurschman and passed unanimously.
The updates drew attention to building security and planned repairs; no formal approvals for the Stone House or Hollingsworth House repairs were recorded during this meeting.
