The Town of Elkton Historic District Commission on June 25 approved a package of exterior renovations for the building at 105 N. Street.
Brad Sadler, representing Blue Dog Property Management for property owner Alex Szep, described plans to replace approximately 18 windows with Anderson 400 Series vinyl windows, repoint brick where older windows were previously bricked over, remove an old exterior air-conditioning unit, install a glass door on the second-floor balcony, wrap the window arches and roof trim in black aluminum, and replace the roof. Sadler said the design will retain the existing window arches.
Commissioner Christine A. Brimm Hurschman moved to approve the application with the specified materials (Anderson 400 Series vinyl windows, brick repointing, glass balcony door, black aluminum trim and arches, and roof replacement); the motion also granted approval for storefront window decals contingent on approval from the Zoning Administrator. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
The applicant and staff discussed potential future tenants and what the Elkton Music Hall might attract. The Commission’s approval covers the listed exterior changes; any zoning questions about storefront decals will be handled by the Zoning Administrator.
