Historic District Commission approves two Bridge Street storefront signs

The Town of Elkton Historic District Commission unanimously approved two storefront sign applications for properties on Bridge Street during its June 25 meeting.
Quang Ho, owner and applicant for 123 N. Bridge Street, requested that an existing sign be relocated to a new storefront; he said window decals may display business hours and a welcome decal. Member of the public Brad Sadler spoke in support of the business moving to that location and its potential for expansion.
Later in the meeting, Lacey Rives, owner of Harco Sign Co., participated via Zoom to request a non-electrical 4-foot-by-10-foot (40-square-foot) sign for Armored AF to be mounted above the windows on the Bridge Street side. Rives confirmed the sign dimensions and that it would not be electrical.
Commissioner Christine A. Brimm Hurschman moved to approve Mr. Ho’s sign application, and the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Commissioner Mickey Thompson moved to approve the Armored AF sign application; that motion was also seconded and passed unanimously.
Both approvals were recorded by the Commission. Any decals or window signage remain subject to the Zoning Administrator’s review if required by zoning rules.
The meeting continued to consider an exterior renovation proposal for 105 N. Street.
