Elkton commission conditionally approves downtown mural, exterior painting

Commissioners discussed historical accuracy of several mural images and noted that one scene—showing a boat and dock—appeared to resemble North East rather than Elkton. Ms. Newton suggested reaching out to the Historical Society for images tying Elkton more clearly to the Head of Elk.
The commission’s motion, made by Commissioner Brandon Boas, approved finishing the mural at 128 E. Main Street upon approval of the design by the Historical Society of Cecil County and approved painting the dental molding on all sides of the building and the brick around the storefront windows at 122 and 124 E.
