Edmonston council requests explanation from PGCMA after allegation of theft; membership decision postponed

Council Member Kony Serrano raised concerns at the March 12, 2025 Town of Edmonston meeting about the town’s affiliation with the Prince George’s County Management Association (PGCMA), saying an incident occurred in which money was stolen by a PGCMA board member and expressing discomfort with the association’s oversight.

Gant, who arrived during this discussion and identified herself as a PGCMA board member, provided additional context and also recommended tabling action until PGCMA could provide more information.
After discussion, Council Members McCauley and Johnson withdrew their motion to remove membership and the council voted to table withdrawal of membership. Council Member Turberville then moved, seconded by Council Member Serrano, that the council request an explanation of what occurred and a plan for increased oversight to prevent theft in the future; that motion passed unanimously.
What’s next: The council’s formal request for an explanation and an oversight plan from PGCMA was recorded; no membership removal occurred and the council will await PGCMA’s response before considering further action.
