City Administrator Cynthia Wagner used the June 17 meeting to brief the Board on personnel and operational items and to announce procedural changes for remote participation.
Wagner said the City promoted Phoenix Burns to police sergeant; Chief Lockridge pinned Sergeant Burns and described sergeant duties, saying "sergeants play a crucial role in any police department" and outlining leadership, supervision and operational responsibilities. Mayor Boley also noted he swore in Officer Corey Sloan earlier that day; Chief Lockridge said Sloan brings 34 years in law enforcement and 37 years in public safety experience.
Wagner reported that Smith's Fork Campground recently surpassed historical occupancy rates—45% versus a typical 30% for this time of year—and said staff credits robust seasonal demand with an eye on the World Cup next year. She also noted construction complications at the Diamond Crest parking lot caused by an unknown water source, which may lead to intermittent splash pad closures, and asked residents to monitor city postings for closures.
On remote participation, Wagner said staff will continue to allow consultants and officials to join by Zoom when necessary but will remove the general Zoom meeting link from agendas for public viewing. The City will continue to livestream meetings on YouTube and post recordings to Facebook and the City website within 24 hours. Wagner encouraged members of the public to attend in person for public comment.
Wagner said the application for this year’s Citizens Academy is on the city website, with applications due July 7. Staff also reported minor website issues they are working to resolve.
