Wetlands agent updates Bolton commission on multiple local projects; regulations draft and brochure revisions planned

At the Dec. 17 meeting the Bolton Inland Wetlands Commission received a series of project updates from Wetlands Agent Alyssa Barroso and brief status reports from commissioners on regulations and outreach materials.
Barroso said work at 1 Notch Road is ongoing and the property has been listed for sale; she noted concerns over a driveway at that site and will continue to monitor activity. At 148 Brandy she reported the inground swimming pool installation is nearly complete and that the owner "has done an excellent job," with continued inspections planned until the project is finished.
Barroso told the commission that an undeveloped lot on Green Hills Drive has had tree cutting; after speaking with the owner she said the owner is aware of wetlands on the parcel and is abiding by regulations. At 271 Hop River Road, Barroso said a trail connecting to the Hop River Trail is completed and that a new bridge crossing the stream "does not impede water flowing under the bridge." She said she will investigate adjacent property concerns after Chair Ross Lally raised questions about a container and trash on neighboring property.
At 65 Shoddy Mill Barroso said the completed work looks good but a few areas still need to be addressed; next steps include planting and three years of monitoring, and Barroso was asked to remind the owner to submit their monitoring report.
Alternate Member Diane DeNunzio raised concerns about tree removal on a property next to her residence and reported abandoned vehicles there; Chair Lally asked Barroso to check whether abandoned vehicles present environmental issues and whether the matter is also a zoning concern.
On other business, Member Michael McDonnell said he is still working on proposed updates to the Wetlands Regulations and expects to present them for commission review at the next meeting. Barroso displayed a draft Educational Wetlands Brochure; commissioners suggested removing some wording and Barroso said she will present a revised brochure at the next meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:27 p.m.
