City of Brodhead awarded $72,295 planning grant for 911 dispatch study

Mayor Simpson announced that an Innovation Planning Grant of $72,295 was awarded for 911 dispatch planning work. Simpson said Olivia Otte of GCDC prepared the grant application with assistance from Police Chief Raupp and that a press release had been issued to the public.
Simpson also noted a recent EMS planning meeting at the fire department with area departments to explore regional emergency-response options; the group has a Feb. 28 due date for next steps related to that EMS planning effort. Chief Raupp participated in the grant preparation and helped brief council on outreach and next steps.
The grant award will support planning activities for 911 dispatch enhancements; council did not take further formal action on implementation at the Feb. 24 meeting.
