Brodhead council adopts budget policies, carries over park funds and approves vouchers

The Brodhead Common Council on Jan. 20 accepted a new set of budget and financial policies and approved several routine financial items.
Mayor Simpson said the new policies had been drafted by Treasurer Miller with help from Ehlers and that the policies were intentionally general and readable; the council approved the policies unanimously. The council also adopted Resolution 2025-002 to carry over $6,661.88 in unspent 2024 Park Board funds for ADA improvements at Putnam Park (sidewalk/blacktop from bleachers to restrooms to support a new zip cruise).
Treasurer Miller presented the December 2024 financial reports and a voucher report showing BID checks 1730-1736 totaling $1,546.40, general checks 84395-84496 totaling $297,604.87, and credit card purchases of $1,245.28, for a grand total of $300,396.55. The council accepted the voucher report by roll call.
Alder Gritzmaker suggested updating photos used in documentation going forward; council members agreed.
