The Lancaster County Board of Equalization met July 7 and approved several valuation adjustments and a motor-vehicle tax exemption application.
Assessor/Register of Deeds Brian Grama told the board a property owned by the Herndon Greater Family Trust had been inspected in May 2025 and omitted from the 2026 neighborhood revaluation; Grama said the property had a CDU change and the assessor’s office was correcting the omission. The board approved the notice of assessed-valuation change for that parcel.
The board also approved greenbelt (change-of-use) applications for a series of parcels and owners; Grama explained some parcels moved from market-value or industrial valuation back to agricultural valuation because portions are being farmed, producing substantial valuation shifts.
During a public hearing on multiple nonprofit motor-vehicle tax exemption applications, no members of the public spoke. The board approved a motor-vehicle tax exemption for Youth for Christ Lincoln Area (one commissioner recorded an abstention during the roll call) and then concluded the hearing.
What it means: The assessor’s corrections and greenbelt determinations adjust tax assessments for the 2026 tax year where parcel use changed or was omitted; nonprofit vehicle-exemption approvals are routine administrative actions but affect tax liability.
Next steps: The assessor’s office will process the approved valuation notices; the county will record the motor-vehicle tax exemption for Youth for Christ per statutory procedure.
