Weyauwega police report: 274 calls, traffic enforcement and resolved child exploitation case

Chief Leschke said officers responded to 274 calls for service during the reporting period. The department issued 45 traffic citations, 25 written traffic warnings and 11 municipal ordinance citations. The department also logged one motor vehicle crash and reported a financial fraud investigation is active.
Leschke told the council a juvenile involved in an incident on the roof of a school will be charged for restitution for services provided. He also reported that a child pornography case was resolved with both brothers found guilty and serving time. Leschke said he is pursuing training to support a program for monitoring train traffic.
The presentation was recorded in the minutes as part of the Police Chief’s report; no formal action was taken by the council on these items during the meeting.
