Weyauwega council approves WWTP probe, lift-station work and safety equipment purchases

At its June 17 meeting, the Weyauwega Common Council approved a package of Public Works Committee recommendations to maintain and upgrade wastewater and lift-station infrastructure and to improve operational safety.
The council approved Resolution #662 (the 2023 Compliance Maintenance Annual Report) and accepted a $8,940.92 quote from PJ Kortens to install an oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) probe at the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The council also approved a $4,454 quote from Altronex for work at the Industrial Park West Lift Station and contracted Master Electrical Services to finish a project at the Industrial Park East Lift Station. Members also approved purchasing barricades and cones for $1,381.75, with an additional $500 to be covered by a safety grant. Finally, the council voted to add 'Superintendent' titles to Public Works staff.
All motions were moved by Council member Austin Baehnman and seconded by Council member Chris Gunderson and passed with five ayes and zero nays. The actions provide immediate maintenance and monitoring upgrades to the WWTP and lift stations and supply equipment intended to improve public-works safety and traffic control at work sites.
Implementation steps include procurement and scheduling of installation for the ORP probe and electrical work, receipt and deployment of barricades, and administrative updates to staff titles and payroll where applicable.
