Resident presses board on school consolidation, staffing and rising taxes; board offers follow‑up and announces venue move
Summary
A Bethel Park resident raised concerns about consolidation, possible staff reductions and a large increase in his school tax bill; the board cut off public comment after two minutes and offered follow‑up by email. Board members also announced a transition to a new agenda system and that future meetings will be held at Neil Armstrong Middle School.

During the public‑comment period, Bethel Park resident Dave Gambridge addressed the board about the district’s planned consolidation of four schools into one and asked whether administrators have prepared proposals for staff reductions.
"You're combining four schools into one. So have you come up with a proposal for, eliminating personnel or staff? Do you have a number?" Gambridge asked, and later told the board he had noticed his tax bill rise from about $1,700 when he moved to over $5,000 now.
Board staff and the presiding official repeatedly reminded Gambridge that the public‑comment time was two minutes and that his time had expired; presenters offered to continue the conversation after the meeting or by email. The presenter said, "We're happy to have conversation with you in, in, one on one in a group, but your time in public comment has expired," and encouraged written follow‑up.
The exchange included an offer from the presenter and administration to address Gambridge’s questions in writing and to have the superintendent or appropriate staff respond.
Separately, in board comments, staff thanked the public for patience during the district’s transition from PSBA BoardDocs to the Keystone agenda system and credited staff work on the transition. The presenter said this would be the last meeting at the current building and announced future meetings will be held at Neil Armstrong Middle School and the new district office.
A board member also announced the Fantastic 4 Bethel Park Arts and Music Festival, scheduled the last Saturday in July at the community center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and noted transportation will be provided from Bethel Park High School and some student exhibits will be on display.
What happens next: The board invited Gambridge and other residents to send questions by email so administration can respond, and staff will proceed with the announced venue move and festival planning.
