The board approved geotechnical testing at the Children Valley property to assess subsurface conditions for future development.
Staff explained that test borings must go deeper in some locations because the water table can be encountered at as little as 7–8 feet in the area; engineers plan to bore deeper in selected spots to characterize soils and groundwater. The work is intended to inform foundation and site design.
Supervisors and staff agreed the testing was necessary; a motion to authorize the geotechnical work was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff will return bid documents and testing results to the board when available.
