Board approves updated math curriculum, preschool plan and related education items

The Franklin Borough School District Board approved several education and curriculum items at its Nov. 17 meeting.
Carolyn Ryder presented NJSLA test data, an updated math curriculum and the 2025–26 Preschool Annual Operational Plan along with a preschool enrollment projection for 2026–27. The board approved the updated math curriculum and the preschool plan and enrollment report during the Education Committee portion of the meeting.
The board also approved funding for professional development including a virtual math workshop for Heather Labance (registration $295 on Jan. 12, 2026) and approved Superintendent John Giacchi’s travel to the Superintendent Collaborative Summit in Scottsdale, AZ (Dec. 3–5, 2025) with specified not-to-exceed travel expenses. The board approved purchase of costumes for the 2025–2026 school play from Connie’s Vintage Trunk/On CUE Costumes for $2,685.
