The Forest Heights City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to enter a closed session to discuss the appointment of a specific individual to the police chief position.
Mayor Lily moved that the council go into closed session “under the general provisions of article subsection 3‑305” for reason 1, which covers personnel matters including appointment and performance, and to approve prior closed-session minutes. The motion was seconded and carried following a roll call vote.
Council members answered affirmatively during the clerk’s roll call. The clerk called Councilwoman Hines, Council member Kennedy, Council member Brownson, Council member Little, Council member McDonald, Council president Noble and Mayor Lily; the clerk announced the vote was unanimous and that “the motion carries.”
Before adjourning to closed session, Mayor Lily told the public that the council will return to open session after the closed meeting and will report any actions taken and the names of those in attendance. The meeting was recessed at 9:25 p.m., and the mayor noted the next council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m.
