Manager said the total housing project financing is roughly $5.41 million and identified multiple funding sources, including $1 million from the county redevelopment authority, $200,000 from an MEA microgrid grant, Community Development Block Grant funding, Maryland Community Legacy funds and a $1.35 million gap from HOME funds. “The total project is 5,400,000, 5,410,000 if I round it up,” she told the council.
Manager also noted a recent groundbreaking for the William S. Pittman Impact Center and said the center will host programs such as culinary arts to benefit residents. She said the Pittman center renovation is at 400 Delwood Lane, Capitol Heights, and described outreach activities tied to the project, including a ribbon‑cutting and a visit to Fairmount Heights Elementary School.
Councilmembers and staff agreed to circulate project financing details to residents and to keep the council updated as planning for the historic school site proceeds through state review processes.
