Community representatives used the Aug. 19 council meeting to report recent activity and upcoming local events.
Frank Zaboj, representing the library, said OWLS provided training on new personnel policies and handling complaints from out-of-town visitors; he noted that "16 Japanese students toured the library" and said the library board is awaiting final bills for its expansion project.
Terrie Tews-Liebe, chamber president, said posters for Horse & Buggy Days had arrived, thanked the city for a monetary donation and praised Public Works for help with setup.
Mary Jane Baehman of the Historical Society reported that the Little Red School House season closed Aug. 18, described grant applications for a silo-painting project, and said the society will run concessions and historical tours during Horse & Buggy Days.
These reports were informational; no council action beyond expressions of thanks and subsequent event permitting was recorded in the minutes.
