Price County committee clears RFP process to hire radio-project consultant

The Price County Law Enforcement Committee on March 9 authorized staff to begin a request-for-proposal process to hire a consultant for a countywide police radio project, the committee’s minutes show.

Committee members were told the radio project will involve cellular towers, dispatch radio systems, body-worn camera technology and other equipment used by law enforcement, emergency management and community services. County staff said the work is likely to begin in 2027–2028 and that a consultant would help define technical needs and purchasing strategies.

A motion to start the RFP process, moved by Joe Baratka and seconded by Robert Kopisch, carried and the committee forwarded the draft RFP to the Executive Committee for further action; the minutes do not record a roll-call tally. The motion was recorded as approved and will proceed through the county’s procurement process.

The radio project was presented as a multi-year initiative; no consultant contract was awarded at the meeting and no cost estimates for the consultant or the larger project were provided in the minutes. The committee did not record additional deadlines or a procurement schedule in the published notes.
