Parks commission elects Kyle Levy as chair, names Keeney vice chair and moves meetings to 6:30 p.m.

At the July 11 meeting commissioners elected Kyle Levy as the commission’s chair and Commissioner Keeney as vice chair. The nomination for Levy was moved and seconded and carried unanimously; Levy thanked the commission and pledged to run efficient and balanced meetings.
The commission then considered meeting logistics and whether to start regular meetings earlier. After discussion about resident access, staff schedules and alignment with City Council start times, Commissioner Brie moved to change the Parks and Community Services Commission’s regular meeting start time from 7:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. starting next month. Vice Chair Keeney seconded the motion. The motion passed 6‑1.
Why it matters: moving the meeting start time is a procedural change intended to shorten late evening adjournments and align some commission meetings with Council meeting hours; commissioners noted competing constraints including work schedules and Bay Area commute times. The leadership elections were procedural and decided by the commission; no other leadership assignments were changed at the meeting.
The clerk will record the new meeting time effective next month and staff will notify the public of the adjusted schedule.
