The Richmond City Council on June 24 approved a package of routine land‑use, financial and operational items, including a final plat for 307 N. Camden, the sale of 204 Kice Street, several vendor payments and liquor‑license renewals.
Mayor Mike Wright called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.; the council approved the June 10 minutes and adopted the evening’s agenda by a 7‑0 roll call vote.
The council unanimously adopted Bill 25‑13, approving the final plat for the Original Town of Richmond for property at 307 N. Camden. City Clerk Saige Mason read the ordinance by title, and the motion to adopt carried 7‑0.
Councilors approved the award of the bid for city‑owned lot 204 Kice Street. The lot was acquired via collector’s deed after a tax sale; minutes note a lien of $12,499.77 recorded against the property related to a 2021 dangerous‑building finding and demolition in 2022. The council voted 7‑0 to accept the bid and move forward with sale approval.
On licensing, the council approved annual liquor‑license renewals for a list of businesses that had completed the renewal requirements. The minutes list Harp’s Food Store #275, Branded Steakhouse‑Oink & Moo BBQ, Shirkey Recreation Park, Tequila Jalisco Mexican Restaurant, Taco Jalisco Mexican Restaurant, Wal‑Mart, BP Amoco, Casey’s General Store, Depot LLC, George’s Liquor Store and several express stops as ready for issuance; Richmond Bowl, Spartan BP Express Stop, 415 Main Express Stop, 609 Shell Express Stop, 800 Main Express Stop, Hometown Pizza and Stella’s Restaurant had not completed renewal at the time of the meeting. The motion to approve the licenses as presented passed with a recorded NAY by Councilor Deanna Guy and an abstention by Councilor Ron Peterson as reflected in the minutes.
Finance matters approved included payment of closeout fees related to the city’s 2024 employee health plan. The council authorized payment to CAS not to exceed $13,052.32 on the recommendation of the Finance Committee; the motion passed 7‑0.
Public Works reported a leaking seal alarm on K Lift Station pump No. 2. JCI quoted $12,151.00 for repairs; councilors authorized JCI to perform the repairs and approved payment from line item 55‑00‑00‑6115, 7‑0.
Mayor Wright announced his intent to appoint Terry Moore to the Park Board to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Bev Phipps; the mayor thanked Phipps for years of service.
The council adjourned at 6:56 p.m.
