The Land Use / UW-Extension Committee approved a special-exception permit March 19 allowing John and Kristi DeBruyne to place a new home 2 feet from the east lot line at N14958 Lake Shore Drive in the Town of Fifield.
The public hearing opened at about 9:03 a.m., and contractor Zack Nick of Wausau Homes, Minocqua, attended to answer questions. Committee members reviewed both older and newer survey maps and compared the footprint of the original structure with the proposed home; the current footprint had extended over the lot line. Committee discussion noted that the original plat was created in 1985, when the homeowner owned three lots, which the committee considered in weighing the request.
After discussion, Michelle Drobnik moved to approve the special-exception permit and Robert Kopisch seconded; the motion carried. The committee record shows that notices were sent in advance and that no written communications were received opposing the permit.
The approval clears the zoning hurdle needed for the applicants to pursue building permits and final construction approvals through town and county permitting channels. The committee did not specify additional conditions or a revised setback beyond the two-foot exception approved at the meeting.
