The Bloomington Arts Commission met June 11 and announced Paige Sharp as the new assistant director for the arts, replacing the prior post held by Holly Warren. Commissioners noted Sharp began in the role on May 26.
Sharp described her professional background, including study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and work with the Indiana Arts Commission. "I was excited to go to the Ryan White Public Art unveiling today ... it was very heartrending and a really beautiful experience," Sharp said.
The commission introduced a trades‑district placemaking task force that will guide public‑art efforts through the end of a grant term in 2028; the group will meet monthly or on an ad hoc schedule and operate primarily virtually with some in‑person options. Public‑art subcommittee chair Rebecca Kehoe updated members on upcoming projects: a Benjamin Ball piece has been chosen for the convention center, a Hopewell project and a Miller Showers project are planned, and a traffic‑box mural initiative connected to a DBI program is in the pipeline.
The Arts Commission set its next meeting for July 8.
