Waverly council approves parking and traffic ordinance changes, including new full stop at Market and 3rd

The Waverly Village Council on Sept. 4 moved and approved several ordinances changing parking-stall designations and traffic controls across the village.
Council adopted Ordinance 70-2024 to change the parking space in front of 122 North Market Street to a loading zone and approved Ordinance 71-2024 to convert a loading zone to a handicap space. The council also considered Ordinances 76-2024 and 78-2024 that change loading zones to two-hour parking in specified blocks and scheduled further readings where indicated.
Council read and discussed Ordinance 77-2024, which creates a full way stop at the intersection of Market Street and 3rd Street; the title for that ordinance was read aloud and members moved to approve reading by title. Council carried the related motions and readings by roll call.
Council members said the changes respond to local needs for loading access, handicap accessibility and traffic control at a specific intersection. The ordinances were presented as text to be implemented in the village traffic and parking code and will be enforced by local parking and public-safety staff.
All motions to read and to carry the listed ordinances were approved by roll-call vote at the meeting.
