The Green Township Committee on March 24 approved a slate of routine measures, issued a proclamation for Child Abuse Prevention Month and moved into executive session to discuss potential property acquisitions and attorney‑client matters.
On a consent vote the Committee adopted Resolution 2025-65 proclaiming April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Committee member Bader Qarmout highlighted the prevention focus, saying it is “wonderful that this is focused on ‘preventing’.”
Other formal votes at the meeting included Resolution 2025-66, authorizing the CFO to cancel a $2,515.15 balance in the Local Recreation Improvement Grant fund and transfer it to State & Federal Grants Receivable; Resolution 2025-68 approving Developers Escrow Trust payments (listed invoices total $578.25); and Resolution 2025-69 approving the general bills list for 02/28/2025 to 03/12/2025 (the bills list summary shows total disbursements of $1,146,483.17 across funds, including school taxes and loan payments noted in the report).
The Committee also adopted Resolution 2025-70 extending the deadline for DPW employees to use carryover vacation time through June 30, 2025, citing limited opportunity to schedule time off during winter months. The March 3 meeting minutes were approved with one abstention by Michael Rose.
During Open Public Session #2, Marie Bilik, speaking on behalf of the Board of Education, described a preliminary school budget and said the board had hired special counsel to negotiate with Newton High School over a tuition increase.
The meeting entered executive session under Resolution ES2025-05 to discuss "Potential Acquisition of Real Property" (the resolution lists multiple parcels, including rail-trail-related parcels and specific block and lot numbers), attorney-client advice and potential lease/purchase of township property; the Committee returned to open session at 9:13 p.m. The resolution states the matters will be made public at the conclusion of each item where appropriate.
The Committee adjourned at 9:14 p.m.
