At its Aug. 25 meeting the Oscoda Township Board approved several community-facing items, including a conditional beer tent for the Paul Bunyan Days festival, the township's 2025 Drop Off Refuse Program application, and a change to the Economic Improvement Committee meeting time.
The board approved the beer tent request from the Oscoda-AuSable Chamber of Commerce for Sept. 12–13 on the condition the tent close at 10 p.m. and that all permits, licenses and insurance be submitted to the township beforehand. The 2025 Drop Off Refuse Program application was approved as presented. The board also voted to move the Economic Improvement Committee meeting to 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.
Public comment during the meeting included concerns and suggestions about live events in the social district (speaker Dave Carmona), downtown beautification and social media policy (Kelly Brown) and a request to add pickleball courts (Don Block). The meeting adjourned at 8:22 p.m.
Next steps: permits, licenses and insurance must be filed before the beer tent event; refuse-program implementation will follow program staff procedures.
