Public Works Director Darin Pryor told the Rolla City Council on Jan. 20 that the Rolla National Airport has been awarded approximately $2.5 million in discretionary funds to rehabilitate runway 13/31, a project listed on the city's capital improvement plan for several years.
Pryor also described a supplemental agreement with Woolpert, Inc., that would change the taxiway design from a full reconstruction to a partial reconstruction and cover the re-bid/redesign phase of that contract. City Counselor James Klahr read both the taxiway supplemental agreement ordinance and the aviation consultant agreement for runway 13/31 for their first readings; no council votes were taken on those ordinances at this meeting.
The funding award provides the city a pathway to proceed with design and future construction phases, but the minutes show the agreements still require subsequent council action following the first readings and any procurement or bidding steps.
