Scurry County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to add a short paved segment of Zavala Road back to the county road map and to make it eligible for county control and maintenance under Precinct 2.
The Chair opened a public hearing on the proposal and noted that the road is paved and relatively short—"That's less than a 100 yards," one commissioner said during the hearing. No members of the public spoke during the hearing. After public comment closed, a commissioner moved to place Zavala Road in Precinct 2 for maintenance; the motion was seconded and the court approved the placement unanimously.
The court directed that Precinct 2 assume maintenance responsibility; no additional funding action was recorded in the session minutes. The action restores county maintenance for a road that participants said had earlier been omitted from maps and will be reflected in future county road maps and maintenance schedules.
