The Stevens County Board of Commissioners approved multiple financial and personnel actions at its May 19, 2026 meeting, including county and Human Services warrants, fiscal contracts with local providers, personnel changes in Human Services, a revised job description for an Environmental Services Coordinator and a paging-system purchase.
Auditor Treasurer Stephanie Buss presented the Commissioner Warrants, which listed fund-level totals and vendor payments. The board approved commissioner warrants totaling $94,523.23, with individual fund amounts listed in the record. Human Services Director Liberty Sleiter presented Human Services warrants totaling $158,383.27; the board approved those warrants and then approved 2026–2027 fiscal contracts with local providers including Divine House Inc., Good Life Services, Prairie Community Services, Morris Area Public School, Hancock Public School, Chokio-Alberta Public School and Stevens County DAC. All motions were seconded and passed on unanimous votes by the five commissioners.
Sleiter also introduced three new social workers — Emily Wentler, Justine Day (started April 20, 2026) and Brittany Flannigan (started May 11, 2026). Human Resource Manager Jan Gomer presented a resignation from Social Worker Megan Vergin effective May 22, 2026; the board voted to accept the resignation and authorized the county to backfill the position.
County Administrator Rebecca Young presented a revised job description for an Environmental Services Coordinator; the board approved the revision and authorized the county to advertise the vacancy. Young and IT staff also described the need for an updated county paging system; the board voted to purchase the paging system from Marco Technologies LLC for $8,996.99 using Capital Funds.
Young further presented updated memoranda of understanding for the Case Aide role, Facility Maintenance Technician and an Overstrength Social Worker, which the board approved as presented. Commissioners provided brief committee updates and then briefly closed the meeting at 10:12 a.m. under Minnesota Statute 13D.03 before reopening at 10:52 a.m. and adjourning.
All recorded motions at the meeting passed on unanimous votes by the five commissioners; the board recorded no opposed votes or abstentions on the listed items.
