The chair moved to approve a Barton and Legitis engineering request totaling $19,600; a colleague seconded the motion and members voiced approval.
On drought conditions, the chair said the village unusually had to call for 1,000,000 gallons from an outside source in June and urged residents to avoid scheduled sprinkler cycles. “Hand watering is fine. Washing your cars is fine. It’s the sprinklers that are the problem,” the chair said, adding that written warnings and a website notice will be used to raise awareness and compliance.
The board credited Inspector William with completing training and carrying out enforcement visits related to water use. No formal compliance schedule beyond initial written warnings was set; officials said follow-up steps will depend on resident response and system performance as the plant comes online.
The motion to approve the engineering work passed without recorded opposition. The board did not set a timeline beyond the construction update; members said they expect further progress reports at future meetings.
