Green Worcester committee amends minutes, schedules follow‑up reports and July agenda items

The Green Worcester advisory committee spent a large portion of its June 15 meeting resolving how to record a motion and its informal evolution in last month’s minutes, then adopted revised language and set several items for the July agenda.
Member Ted (speaker 2) said he had asked for a discussion at the previous meeting and that the conversation had evolved into a request for a city report. He asked the minutes be changed to replace the word "report" with "discussion" where appropriate and to add a sentence noting that Chair Mary Mittel and Member Hurwitz had suggested the committee request a Department of Sustainability and Resilience (DSR) report to be provided to the committee within three months. Staff cautioned that context belongs in the minutes but that the formal motion text itself should be written succinctly.
After back-and-forth about whether the language required a fresh motion or a minutes amendment, the committee agreed to restate the sequence in the minutes: a motion by member Khanna for a discussion regarding Green Worcester Plan chapter 12 (action item 8) was not voted on; a separate motion by the chair and Member Hurwitz to request a report about the same item was then made and passed with a request that the report be provided within three months. The committee voted to accept the revised minutes; the roll call recorded five yes votes and one no.
The committee also agreed to place several follow‑up items on the July agenda, including the Green Worcester Plan items noted above, a discussion of a proposed 0‑emission‑vehicles‑first policy for city facilities, a standing update on specialized stretch‑code implementation from DSR, a presentation by Member Ted on data centers and a status report on the ten early actions from the Green Worcester plan. Where motions were voted in meeting, they were approved by roll call with the members present.
The meeting closed after a brief update section from DSR and announcements about volunteer events; the committee set its next meeting for July 27.
