County counsel and staff responded that pay and benefits are subjects of negotiation under the FOP contract and recommended discussing bargaining strategy in executive session.
On corrections reimbursement, the sheriff said the county receives roughly 50% of the true daily cost when housing DOC detainees and that transport costs add to the county's burden because state pickup is sometimes delayed. The sheriff said transfers have improved but that the state historically has not reimbursed full costs.
The board did not take formal action; staff advised coordination with the FOP bargaining team and a county pay-study already underway.
