Board approves drone photo, Benchmark ELA adoption and student fundraisers

During the Student Services/Community Services portion of the May 19 meeting, the Hainesport Township Board of Education approved several student‑centered items and curricular change.
Chair Bianca Cuniglio presented and the board approved conditional permission to use a drone on June 11 to photograph students on the soccer field as they spell out “HAINESPORT 250.” The approval is contingent upon completion of all necessary documentation listed in the agenda.
The Student Government Association was authorized to operate Alex's Lemonade Stand during field day; the agenda states funds raised will support research into new treatments and cures for childhood cancers. The board also approved Benchmark Education as the district’s new English‑language-arts program for grades Kindergarten through 4 for the 2026–2027 school year.
Additionally, the Music Department was authorized to sell water‑bottle stickers during spring concerts with proceeds to support Hainesport music programs and trips. These items were presented together and approved on roll call.
