The Quincy City Licensing Board approved a special‑use one‑day liquor license for the Merrymount Association's July 3 freedom celebration at Merrymount Beach and affirmed the association's annual July 4 parade permit. Chair (Speaker 2) introduced the item and Mark Sodder (Speaker 3) described the July 3 event's planned food trucks, stage, DJ and activities for children.
Sodder said the July 3 event will feature two to three food trucks (including Blacks Creek and Larry Larry's Tacos) and a children’s stage; the parade is scheduled for July 4 at 12:30 p.m. "A lot of good events coming up this summer," Sodder said, adding thanks to the city for its support. The board raised no questions and a motion to approve the special‑use permit and one‑day liquor license was moved and approved by voice vote.
The approval allows beer and wine service at the July 3 celebration (5–9 p.m.); organizers remain responsible for meeting all licensing conditions and public‑safety measures required by law.
