President Bowe explained that a recent survey showed existing utilities crossed the recorded easement by several feet. The proposal was not to create a new easement broadly but to correct and extend the village utility easement in one location so the existing utilities fall within the easement boundary and MetroNet can complete directional boring and installation without entering private backyards.
Trustees asked whether the adjustment would affect neighboring lots and whether it would require planning-and-zoning review; the village engineer and director Killinger (both referenced in the packet) had inspected the site and concluded the correction was a limited fix affecting Lot 73 only and that it did not require planning-and-zoning approval. Several trustees raised concerns about tree impacts; staff said MetroNet would bore beneath and avoid unnecessary tree removal.
The board approved resolution 2026-4 by roll call vote and said staff would notify affected residents and coordinate a construction timeline with MetroNet.
