Township Attorney Ursula Leo told the Committee that, in recent proceedings related to the Township's affordable housing obligation, the Special Master recommended to the Mt. Laurel Program Judge that the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) obligation be 249 units rather than the 91 units the Township had argued via its planning report.
Leo said the court specifically noted that the Township "in all likelihood" is entitled to take a durational adjustment for the Tranquil Valley lot. She told the Committee the Township Planner is preparing the housing element and fair share plan in response to the recommendation.
No public comment was recorded during the update. The recommendation by the Special Master and the planner's forthcoming work indicate the matter remains subject to further court action and plan filings.
