At the June 11 meeting the Poway Unified School Board ratified a series of tentative successor agreements covering multiple employee units for the 2026–27 school year.
District negotiators presented the highlights of each tentative agreement, including ongoing salary schedule increases in July and January, and one‑time payments linked to health and welfare surpluses. The Poway Federation of Teachers (PFT) tentative agreement was presented and approved on a motion and second with a recorded vote of 6‑0. Trustees discussed structure and distribution of one‑time payments, with some members noting the value of fixed dollar amounts to benefit less‑experienced teachers.
The board then ratified the Poway School Employees Association (PSEA) unit 1 and unit 2 tentative agreements, which included ongoing salary increases and use of surplus FBC dollars. District staff explained PSEA’s internal formula for distributing one‑time dollars to employees who contributed to health and welfare medical plans; the motion passed 6‑0.
The board also approved compensation increases for the Association of Poway School Managers (APSIM) to align with other units and approved adjustments to exempt salary classifications. Trustees thanked bargaining teams, labor representatives and staff for the negotiations and noted the contracts’ effect on the proposed 2026–27 budget.
Each of the personnel‑related votes recorded unanimous approval by the board at the meeting; the board’s clerk recorded the formal tallies on the public record.
