McCone County commissioners approved several routine items and contract updates during a short meeting that also included discussion of regional energy projects.
The meeting opened with a motion to approve the agenda, which the board adopted unanimously. The board then approved the prior meeting minutes as read.
Chair presented contract modifications for the Council on Aging and noted that the amount in the contract is adjusted year to year depending on incoming funds. The board moved, seconded and voted to approve the contract modifications; the motion passed with aye votes recorded.
Commissioner moved to approve an item listed as the "Great Northern Development Grama" (term as read in the minutes). The motion was seconded and approved unanimously. The minutes record the motion and the 3–0 outcome.
The board also approved the alcohol-tax designation form for fiscal year 2027, continuing the county’s prior practice of directing those funds to the Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center. A motion to adopt the designation was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
On a separate procedural matter, the Chair raised whether the county should renew membership in the Montana Natural Resource Coalition. Commissioners noted the group's recent activity and the county’s typical dues level; because some details needed clarification, the board agreed to table the dues decision and place it on the next meeting agenda for further discussion. A figure mentioned in the discussion was approximately $4,700 for membership.
Other routine items handled or referenced during the session included payroll and deductions, contract and facility maintenance follow-ups (sprinklers and a heating unit), and a series of items read from the prior meeting's minutes, such as previously approved purchases of personal protective equipment (about $25,000) and radios (about $7,000).
The board concluded its business with instructions for follow-up on the few remaining operational items and scheduled further discussion of the tabled membership question at the next meeting.
