Miss O'Mara presented the district’s Student Safety Data System (SSDS) report covering the September–December reporting window: the elementary school reported zero HIB incidents, zero restraints and zero suspensions during that window, with three trainings and one program recorded; the middle school reported one substantiated HIB investigation, two incidents of restraint, zero out‑of‑school suspensions, three trainings and one program. O'Mara said the referenced program for both schools is the Second Step curriculum and that the next reporting window will cover January–June.
Superintendent remarks framed the SSDS report within overall compliance work: the district met special‑education requirements for 2023–24 and completed a CUSAC review, with the superintendent noting a 70‑of‑78 score (roughly 90%) on an HIB assessment that has been posted online. The superintendent also reported grant activity: a REAP grant application for $51,000 was submitted (awards announced after July 1) and Principal Jen Semaglade received a $2,300 focus grant to fund K–3 early‑literacy screeners.
The board and superintendent also recognized student achievements: Abigail Conner received the Sussex County Superintendents Roundtable Student Award for the district; Sofia Nutter received the unsung-hero award and Sydney Cascone the district Caring Award (noted in absentia).
