Council members approved an added expense related to the police department’s enterprise vehicles after staff explained the additional costs resulted from price increases at the start of the COVID pandemic.
A council member asked staff (addressed as Josh in the discussion) how the unpaid amount was discovered. Staff responded that enterprise up-fronted costs during the pandemic and later passed some increased costs back to the city; the staff estimate was no more than $10,000 spread across six vehicles. "It's no more than $10,000 with that cost ... it's spread out across 6 vehicles," the staff member said.
A council member moved to approve the added expense and the motion was seconded; the chair called for a voice vote and the motion passed according to the transcript.
The council did not produce a line-item accounting in the meeting record; staff described this as a housekeeping adjustment rather than a single vehicle overrun.
