Board approves a package of routine business: vehicle buyouts, timber appraisals, transit grant and guardianship contract

During routine business the Hubbard County Board approved several operational and procurement items by voice vote.

Vehicle buyouts: Natural resources staff recommended buying out three leased vehicles that have low residual buyout prices (two 2021 F-150s and a 2021 F-250). Staff reported the buyout costs (about $5,045.35 for two units and $501 for the F-250) and projected savings in avoiding recurring lease payments; the board approved purchasing the vehicles.

Timber appraisals and auction: The Natural Resources department presented nine timber appraisals for a July 6 auction with an appraised starting value of $128,823.10 and requested permission to sell to the highest bidder; the board approved the appraisals and the sale authorization.

Transit grant application: County staff presented a resolution authorizing submission of the 2027 public transit operating application to MnDOT. The 10% local match is estimated at approximately $81,008.50 and would be covered by farebox revenues and local contracts; commissioners approved submitting the application.

Guardianship services contract: Staff recommended a purchase/service agreement with Resource Training and Solutions to provide public guardianship and conservatorship services after a previous provider changed ownership and a long-term employee retired. The board approved entering the new contract, with the provider to be in place by August 1 to cover remaining clients.
