Rolfe council flags insurance and software costs, tables social media policy and notes two inoperable fire hydrants

Treasurer Sindergard told the Rolfe City Council on March 23 that the insurance renewal bill does not reflect changes made last year and that it was too late to obtain a second quote before the April 1 renewal.
Sindergard and Clerk Brandi Henderson reported they had attended a software demonstration by Frey and that the quote returned was higher than what the city currently pays to gWorks. Council members expressed frustration with support from the current vendor but made no procurement decision at the meeting.
Separately, the council tabled consideration of a social media policy and updates to the city website to allow staff to compile additional research on procedures used by other cities.
Council also discussed planned hydrant maintenance: hydrants will be flushed in early April, and the minutes note two hydrants are not operable. The golf course’s hydrant was reported as not working and its water has been discolored since reconnection.
