One councilor said it is important to bring concrete examples of Milwaukies work to the table so other jurisdictions can replicate successful programs.
On SHS, councilors said there has not been transparent county conversation about allocations and expressed interest in greater county-city coordination. A councilor said the county had begun a funding notice for shelters and that direct allocations to Portland had been proposed and would drive further SHS table discussion.
Staff and councilors agreed to continue pursuing clearer communication with county representatives, to leverage the citys strategic plan goals when advocating at Metro or CAB tables, and to return to council with materials (SHS packets and work plans) to inform local advocacy. No formal action was taken during the session.
