RSU 18 authorizes RFQ to seek firm for energy and facility performance contracting

"What I'm looking to do here is put out a request for qualifications, for a firm, to come in and help us with indoor air quality, facility improvements, heating, air conditioning," the presenter said, describing the RFQ’s purpose.
Administration emphasized that issuing an RFQ does not commit the district to any projects; it creates a five‑year relationship with a firm that can develop project budgets, pursue grants and, if projects proceed, manage construction and carry certain liabilities. The presenter gave examples including past performance contracting that delivered multi‑million dollar upgrades with limited budget impact.
The board voted to authorize issuance of the RFQ and to form an interview committee (staff and at least one board member) to review respondents and make a recommendation to the full board. Mike moved to issue the RFQ; Sarah seconded. The vote was unanimous.
