Highlights included: Downtown West retail buildings moving toward construction; Olivine Apartments (about 145 units) opening and taking residents; Victoria condos (Gannon Building) receiving final plat approval for 10 units; Row Apartments nearing final completion with retail tenants expected by late July; Victoria Gateway East receiving final plat approval; and the Hotel Victoria project moving to council after the commission’s recommendation. Staff said a previously proposed Church Lake Boulevard townhome project had been rescinded and that other residential projects across the city are in various stages of platting and construction.
On transportation, staff said the city and county are coordinating several projects: Victoria Drive improvements are anticipated in 2028 and County Road 10 improvements in 2029, with teams meeting monthly on design alternatives. Highway 5 construction is underway with a target section reopening around the July 4 weekend (weather permitting), and a larger Highway 5 reconstruction phase scheduled to start later in the year. Staff encouraged commissioners and the public to attend an upcoming county open house in July at Westbrook Community Church to review alternatives and designs.
