Ottawa council approves payroll, expense and departmental reports; fire radios funded from REP Grant

At its Jan. 6 meeting, the Ottawa City Council approved routine financial actions and departmental filings, including minutes from Dec. 16, 2025; the Biweekly Salary Payroll of Dec. 19, 2025 in the amount of $734,618.18; and a Bimonthly Expense Report showing $558,143.93 in expenses.
Commissioner Wayne E. Eichelkraut Jr. moved to approve minutes, payroll and the bimonthly expense report; motions were seconded and passed unanimously. The council also received and placed on file the City Clerk Shelly L. Roalson's Monthly Financial Report for November 2025.
Commissioner Thomas G. Ganiere presented both the Police Chief Michael J. Cheatham's monthly report for December 2025 and his annual report for calendar year 2025; both were received and placed on file. Ganiere also presented the Fire Chief Brian R. Bressner's monthly and annual reports; those were placed on file as well.
On equipment, Commissioner Ganiere moved to accept a quote from Nicholson 1 Communications to purchase four radios and microphones for the Fire Department to be paid from REP Grant proceeds; the council approved the purchase unanimously.
The motions carried with unanimous votes by Commissioners Eichelkraut, Ganiere, Pearson, Barron and Mayor Hasty. No council member voted nay or abstained.
