Tri Kappa donates $1,000 to Dyer police K9 unit; board accepts multiple community donations

Sergeant Antonucci and K9 Sparrow were introduced as the new handler-and-dog team; a department representative described Sparrow as a rescue dog that passed training and has been certified for duty. Sergeant Antonucci noted that ballistic vests and other K9 equipment—provided in some cases by nonprofits—help protect working dogs in the field.
Officer Suarez, the K9 handler, thanked donors and said he was "already loving it," describing the support as appreciated as the pair begin street duties.
Later in the meeting the board accepted additional contributions to the police K9 program and department operations: individual donations totaling $515 (from local residents listed in correspondence) and a separate $526.40 donation from Dyer Fitness Incorporated, which the board also approved by roll call. The combined receipts approved by the board on June 16 total $1,041.40 beyond the Tri Kappa gift.
The board recorded formal motions and roll-call votes for each acceptance; no abstentions were recorded. The Safety Board also accepted two letters of thanks from Special Olympics Indiana recognizing department participation in the law-enforcement torch run and related fundraising.
