Salem Township supervisors unanimously vote to advertise bids for tractor with set specifications and timeline

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Feb. 11 to advertise for bids for a tractor that meets minimum specifications and to set a timetable for publication, bid opening and award.
Supervisor Bob Zundel moved to discuss advertising for tractor bids, and Supervisor Todd Paulich seconded. Paulich said the township would prefer to buy a brand‑new tractor with a boom mower but that a new purchase is not in the budget this year. The supervisors agreed on the bid specifications: model year no older than 2008; equipped with a boom mower; at least 105 horsepower; fewer than 5,000 hours of use; accompanied by service records; and immediately available for use.
Zundel made a second motion to publish the bid notice. The board set publication dates of Feb. 16 and Feb. 23, 2026 in the Penn Franklin newspaper to satisfy advertising requirements. The board scheduled bids to be opened on March 5, 2026 and to be awarded at the public supervisors meeting on March 18, 2026. All three supervisors — Kerry Jobe, Bob Zundel and Todd Paulich — voted in favor of both motions; both motions passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m. after a motion by Paulich, seconded by Zundel. The supervisors set a hearing for Feb. 18, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7:00 p.m., to take place at the Salem Township Municipal Building at 244 Congruity Road in Greensburg.
