Economic-development update: Como Connect to build substation, Windsor Place certified site renewal underway

"It’s roughly 50 megawatts is what then would become available," Jim said, framing the substation as a capacity improvement that would enable larger industrial prospects the city previously could not serve.
Jim also said the Windsor Place Industrial Park (just over 100 acres along I-70) is a certified site and city staff are renewing that certification. He reported that the Booneslick Community Development Corporation is seeking development land and restarting its revolving loan fund; staff are also holding entrepreneurial classes and counseling local businesses.
Councilors responded with questions about timing and capacity. Jim said the substation commitment by Como Connect is a positive step and that the city expects broader benefits for recruitment and industrial development as utility capacity increases.
The update concluded with staff noting related capital projects and the expected schedule for property and site work.
